Betty Jean Wells

Betty Jean Brandon Wells, 73, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 22, 2009. She was surrounded by her family. Saved as a young woman, she was baptized and attended Victory Baptist Church as long as her health allowed.

Betty was born in Kingsport on her father's birthday, November 7, 1935, the third child of "Newt" and Effie Brandon. She was a wonderful, loving, caring wife, mother, and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac "Newt" Brandon and Effie Brandon; one sister, Lowtis Hammond; and a son-in-law, Danny Hurst.

Betty is survived by her husband of 54 years, Arthur Wells; two daughters, Debbie Hurst of Greeneville and Donna Monroe of Bristol, TN; four grandchildren, Steven Hurst and wife Patty of Tucker, GA, Brian Monroe and fiancé Mandy Meyers of Bristol, Brandon Monroe of Knoxville, Rebekah Hurst of Greeneville; one sister, Evelyn Burk of Kingsport; and one niece and several nephews.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 - 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport with funeral services following at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Todd Abbey, David Abbey, and Steven Hurst will officiate.

Graveside services will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park

The family would like to thank the staff of Amedisys Hospice and especially Becky for their loving care.
