Betty Loraine Wright, 86, died Saturday September 24, 2011 at the home of her niece in Kingsport, TN.
A graduate of Roosevelt-Wilson High School she was born and lived most of her life in Clarksburg, WV.
She worked at Maidenform Inc. for 20 years. She then worked as a secretary for the Henderson Construction Co. for 25 years retiring at age 76. She was a Charter Member of East View Ladies Lions Club, former Secretary of Harrison County Coalition on Legislation of the Elderly COLE, Secretary of West Virginia State COLE, former member of Senate of Silver Haired Legislators of State of West Virginia and former member of the Gospel singing group "The Christian Heirs".
She was preceded in death by her parents Frank Chicarell and Ora Mae Harbert Chicarell, 5 brothers: Lee, Lawrence, Franklin, Paul Charles, and Frank and 8 sisters: Genieve Emme, Bea Dent, Evelyn Postlewait, Rosella Childers, Ester Burgess, Dove Shuttlesworth and Joy Payton.
Survivors include one sister Ruth and her husband Doug Thomas of Deland, FL, numerous nieces and nephews spread all over the United States and many special friends that she touched though out her life. She was always giving of herself to others and helping anyone that needed help. She also touched many by her singing of the gospel and teaching the word of God in church school classes.
There will be a celebration of her life at the Floral Hills Chapel at Floral Hills Cemetery, Lost Creek, WV October 15, 2011 at 1 PM with the Rev. Bob Shingleton presiding.
