Beulah Ruth Shipley Bellamy, 90, of Church Hill passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital.
She was born in Hawkins County and resided in Scott and Hawkins Counties her entire life. Beulah was a homemaker and an active member of Cameron Methodist Church, Way Cross, VA, until the last few years due to declining health. She has since lived at The Village at Allandale in Kingsport.
Ms. Beulah loved reading, especially her Bible and devotions, play scrabble and gardening. She loved cookouts and family meals and to have her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren around her. She was a beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother.
Beulah was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Summers Bellamy Sr.; parents, Samuel and Faynette Monroe Shipley; sisters, Mary B. Blevins and Selma Shoemaker; Granddaughter, Vicky Tittsworth; father-in-law, Samuel Bellamy; and sister-in-law, Relia B. Dean.
She is survived by her daughters, Sharron Tittsworth and husband, Vance of Church Hill, Pamela Carpenter and husband, Clyde III of Knoxville; sons, Hugh S. Bellamy Jr. and wife, Barbara of Gate City, Anthony Tony Bellamy and wife, Susie of Church Hill; Granddaughter, Sherry Price and husband Bob; grandsons, Will Bellamy and wife, Vandi, Jason Bellamy and wife, Angie, Sam Bellamy, Clyde Carpenter IV, and Matthew Carpenter; two step-grandsons, Robert and Allen Carpenter; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Isaac, and Hannah Price, Kihley, Jackson, Ann-Clark Bellamy; three step-great-grandchildren; sister, Aldameda S. Landiss of Nashville; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 8. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with Pastors David Neel and Jon Rogers officiating.
Graveside services will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery on Friday at 11 a.m., with family and friends gathering at the graveside at 10:45 a.m. Pallbearers will be Randall Davidson, Danny Davidson, Mark Litle, John Grubb, Ernest Miller, Mike Grim and Bruce Roberts. Honorary pallbearers will be Cameron Methodist Church Sunday School Class.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the residents and employees of Virginia's Garden at The Village at Allandale for helping make Mom's last years happy ones.
