Beulah K. Blakley, 96, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Monday morning, September 1, 2008, at Holston Valley Medical Center following a lengthy illness. She was born in Greene County, Tennessee, and had resided in Kingsport most of her life. She was a former telephone operator, and was co-owner and operator of Kingsport Tile and Linoleum for over 30 years.
She was a very loving and caring mother and grandmother who enjoyed helping others. She was an avid crossword puzzle worker. She was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Belle Carmack, her husband, Simon B. Blakley, and a grandson, Chris Blakley.
She is survived by a son, Ken Blakley, Kingsport; a grandson, Todd Blakley, Kingsport; a sister, Kathleen Corley and husband Grady, Kingsport; two brothers, Ancel Carmack, Kingsport; Hal Carmack and wife Kathy, Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be conducted at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport, on Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. with Richard Isaacs officiating. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Bert Carter, Nathan Aulds, Craig Haynes, Matt Gibbons, Greg Durham, Terry Bledsoe, and Todd Blakley. Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Gulley, Dr. Paul Singh, Grady Corley, and Dr. Stephen Corley.
