Beulah M. Dougherty went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. She was a native of Russell County, VA, but had lived in Sullivan County since 1952.
Mrs. Dougherty had been a member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church since 1957 where she was active in church work serving in many different positions.
She was a Red Cross volunteer for many years and also volunteered at Sullivan County School Clinics, Indian Path Medical Center, and Hillside Manor Nursing Home. Mrs. Dougherty was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels serving on the Board of Directors for many years.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a sister; and a brother. She was also preceded in death by her husband, D. Bane Dougherty in 1971; and her son, D. Mark Dougherty in 1984.
She is survived by one sister, Lillian Fleenor of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Colonial Heights Baptist Church. Services will be at 8 p.m. Friday at the church with Dr. Greg Burton officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holston View Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jerry C. Teague, David Teague, Edward Teague, David Sullivan, Kent Wilson, David Overbay, Ted Hughes, and Jerry Cunningham.
