Bernard (Bill) William Anders, Kingsport, 82, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2016. Born in Monongahela, PA on August 1, 1933, he had resided in Kingsport since 2004. Bill served his country in the U.S. Navy for 4 years from 1952-1956. He worked in the mining manufacturing industry for over 40 years. Bill was a devoted member of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, Abingdon Lion's Club, Beckley, WV Lodge #95, and Scottish Rite Freemasonry #32 of Charleston, WV. Bill delivered meals for Meals on Wheels. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Anders; sisters, Elaine Anders Meyers, and Mary Anders Gillingham; and brother, John (Jack) Norman Anders.
Bill is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Emily Johnson Anders; daughters, Cynthia Plumley and husband, Jerry, Pamela Fowler and husband, Daryl, Nancy Richmond and husband, Kelly, and Kathleen Pellant and husband, Eric; grandchildren, Eddie, Eric, Janell and husband, Ben, Leanne and husband, Chris, Justin, Heather, Jared, Laurel, Kasie, Colten, and Faith; great-grandchildren, Kelsie, Emily, Allison, Austin, Troy, and Violet; siblings, Margaret "Peggy" Jackson, and Donald Anders; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the CCU at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center for their care and compassion.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall of St. Christopher's Church, 584 Lebanon Rd., Kingsport, TN 37663. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 1:00 in the church with The Rev. Margaret Zeller officiating. A private family inurnment service will take place in Abingdon, VA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to St. Christopher's Church Backpack Ministry.
