Bill B. Calhoun

Bill Calhoun, 94, of Kingsport, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at The Wexford House following a period of declining health.

Born in Hawkins County, TN, a son of the late G. W. and Pearl Crawford Calhoun, he has resided in Sullivan Gardens since 1955. Bill was an employee of Eastman Kodak, where he worked in the Research Department, retiring in 1977.

Bill was a member of Vernon Heights Baptist Church.

A Veteran of World War II, Bill served in the U.S. Army Pacific Theatre. He was a member of VFW and The American Legion.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Jane Crow Calhoun; two sisters, Mary E. Calhoun and Nelda Hope Castleberry; brothers-in-law, Bill Castleberry and James Crow.

Bill is survived by two daughters, Liz and John McCurry, and Charlotte and Bob England; grandchildren, Amy and Ty Kirby, Katie and Dave Campbell, and Brandy and Jason Creech; great-grandchildren, Lizzy, Emery, and Evans Kirby, Jonesy and Oscar Campbell, Ann Marie and Abagayle Creech; nephew, Scott Castleberry and wife Sherry, of Bristol, VA and family, Colin Cox and wife, Megan Groves and son, Grey Groves, Craig Cox with Vicky Marvin, and son, Zack; sisters-in-law, Marie Perry, Edith Keplinger, Florence and Don Robinette, and Shirley Mathison; brothers-in-law, Alford and Phillis Crow, Howard and Margaret Crow, Carl and Annie Crow, and Bea and Patsy Crow; several nieces, nephews, and relatives; many friends; and special furry baby, Sugar.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Downtown.

Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Mike Anglin officiating.

Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park. Military honors will be accorded by The American Legion Hammond Post #3 and Gate City Post #265.

Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

Those wishing, may make memorial donations to Vernon Heights Baptist Church, 2547 Russell St, Kingsport, TN, or Meals on Wheels, c/o Colonial Heights Baptist Church, 108 Colonial Heights Rd, Kingsport, TN.
