Bill C. Herring

Bill C. Herring, 67, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, October 7, 2008, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following a brief illness.

He was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County and retired from the City of Kingsport. Bill attended Genesis Freewill Baptist Church, was a 1959 graduate of Sullivan High School, and was an avid camper who enjoyed camping time with his family. He loved to make people laugh and enjoyed time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Bill was a great husband, dad, papaw, brother, and friend.

His parents, Bailey Herring and Alberta Barrett Sherling, preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife, Betty J. Herring of Kingsport; one daughter, Becky J. Glover and husband Paul of Kingsport; one son, Brian Herring and wife Lisa of Kingsport; three grandchildren, Courtney Herring Glover, Travis Williams, Eric Herring; one sister, Gladys Qualls of Kingsport; and two nephews, Kent Qualls of Kingsport and Brad Qualls and wife Emily of Nashville.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport or any time at the home of the son at 3101 Pauline Road, Kingsport off Lucy Road.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12 Noon Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Jennings Dotson officiating. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Eric Herring, Travis Williams, Brad Qualls, Kent Qualls, Steve Henry, and Darrell Dillard.
