Bill Parrott, 86, of the Bloomingdale community, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord at his home Friday, July 20, 2007.
He retired from J. P. Stevens when he was 63. Bill enjoyed taking care of his cattle and his animals. He enjoyed going to the stockyard and flea markets and loving his great-grandbabies.
Bill was of the Baptist faith.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Bob and Dovie Parrott; stepmother, Ora Parrott; and brother, Carson Parrott.
Surviving are his loving wife of more than 50 years, Lula Bowen Parrott, Kingsport; one son, Nick Cody and wife, Pat, Kingsport; four grandsons, Chad Cody and wife, Robin, Myrtle Beach, SC, Billy Cody and Rachel, Kingsport, Shane Herron and wife, Gina, Myrtle Beach, Mark Logan and wife, Wendy, Kingsport; fourteen great-grandchildren, Lexy, Maddy, Trinity, Savannah, Trevor, Mekayla, Bryce, Lensey, Rachel, Karen, Steven, Weston, and two on the way; five sisters, Nancy, Kingsport, Edith, Phyllis, JoAnn, and Rosemary, all of Hawkins County; one brother, ?Dump? Parrott, Hawkins County; special nieces, Jean Hamilton and husband, Bobby, Tammie Carr and husband, Wayne, Detta Berry and husband, Edward; several other nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Leonard Bowen, Virginia; sisters-in-law, Reba Brickey and Rosa Tankersley, both of Virginia; and numerous friends.
Calling hours are from 12 to 2 p.m. Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Evangelist Michael Herron officiating.
There will be no burial. His wishes were to stay on top of the ground. Bill will be cremated.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Carr, Bobby Hamilton, Steven Hamilton, and Weston Carr.
