Billie Wells

Miss Billie Bernice Wells moved to her new residence at Gloryland Way on April 1, 2008, at the age of 82 after a lengthy illness.

She was living with her very special niece, Sue Ray and husband Gary. They moved Aunt Billie into their home so her last days would be filled with love and tender care, especially from her great-great-niece, Molly Grace Ray. Molly was Aunt Billie's "love" nurse.

Born in Jonesville, VA she moved to Kingsport, TN in 1943. She started work at Borden Mills at eighteen years old and retired from there forty-four years later. Billie devoted her life to caring for her mother until her mother passed away. She then devoted her time to caring for her sister until her health would no longer allow her. She attended Calvary Baptist Church in Kingsport, TN.

Billie adored and doted on the seven sets of twins in her family. She always put others before herself her whole life. Even though she had no children of her own, she was always the "second mother" to all her nieces and nephews. She loved to sew and loved putting together family photos. She also loved organizing the Wells family reunion every year.

Her mother, Minnie Mae Hall Wells and father, Johnce Tillman Wells, six brothers, Ulysses and Woodrow Hall, J. C., Paul and Dan Wells preceded her in death.

Survivors include three sisters, Jewel Fisher, Ben Hur, VA; Lura Johnston, Kingsport, TN; and Edith Cross, Bristol, TN: one brother, J. T. Wells, Kingsport, TN; several nieces and nephews and many great and great-great-nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 5-7:00 p.m. Thursday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport and friends may call any time at the home of Gary and Sue Ray, 397 Ross Campground Road, Church Hill, TN.

Services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Steve Forbes officiating.

Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at East Lawn Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be great-nephews.

Billie will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She has gone to prepare for our grand family reunion in Heaven.

The family would like to send a special thanks to Dr. Moraes and staff, all of the Hospice staff, and especially Patsy, Elinore, Sandra and Linda; also, Home Health Care Nurse, Sharon Wyatt, and Kingsport Hematology Oncology nurse Teresa Hockett for their loving affection for our "Aunt Billie."
