Billy Barnes, 83, of Colonial Heights went to be with the Lord at 7:30 a.m. Friday, March 22, 2013.
Billy was born in Washington County and lived in Kingsport for most of his life. He was a retired truck driver from Ryder/PIE and a member of the Teamsters #549.
He was a member of West Colonial Hills Baptist Church. Billy was a talented musician, being able to play many instruments by ear and a lover of the outdoors and the water.
Billy was preceded in death by his wife, Freda 2008; parents, Charlie and Ida Barnes; and two brothers, Beryl and Kay Barnes.
Surviving are his two daughters, Karen Leimkuhler of the home and Damaris Yost and husband Dickie of Winchester, VA; three grandchildren, Hayden Leimkuhler, Olivia Leimkuhler, and Molly Yost; great-granddaughter, Adalyn Collins; four sisters, Juanita Arnold of Fall Branch, Norma Hite Dockery and husband Junior of Rock Springs, Iva Mae Townsend and husband Joe of Fall Branch, and Linda Miller and husband Bobby of Fall Branch; one brother, Dale Barnes and wife Carol of Fall Branch; sister-in-law, Reba Barnes; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson, Fall Branch. Services will be held at 3 p.m. with Rev. Billy Wayne Arrington officiating.
Burial will follow at Logan's Chapel in Fall Branch.
Pallbers will be Hayden Leimkuhler, Marty Leimkuhler, Dickie Yost, Jackie Barron, Scott Roller and Rick Cowden.
Honorary pallbearers are Fred Brooks, Junior Dockery and Jos Townsend.
