Billy Earnest Collins, 70, Kingsport was called home at 5:35 a.m. Thursday, May 15, 2008, following a terminal illness.
He was born in St. Paul, Virginia, and had resided in the Kingsport area most of his life. Billy was a self-employed developer and contractor. He attended Colonial Heights Christian Church and Boones Creek Christian Church. Billy enjoyed fishing and had a love for all animals. He also enjoyed Bluegrass and Country music and attended functions throughout the area.
His parents, Lloyd and Bertha Collins, preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, Brenda Covert Collins of Kingsport; two stepdaughters, Sabrina Hicks and husband David of Kingsport, Sonya Moore of Kingsport; four sons, Jeffery Lynn Collins and wife Patty of Church Hill, TN, Terry Boyd Collins and wife Belinda of Fall Branch, TN, Keith Collins of Kingsport, and Gregory Scott Collins of Kingsport; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruth Winnger and Sue Million both of Kingsport.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Wes McElravy officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens. Sons and friends will serve as pallbearers.
