Billy P. Jones

Billy P. Jones, 82, of Kingsport, went to meet his Heavenly Father on Thursday, March 10, 2011.

He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and received the Victory Medal while serving in World War II. He retired from Mason Dixon Truck Lines.

Billy was a member of Summersville Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He enjoyed restoring old Mustangs and Street Rods. Billy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and a friend to many.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Palmer and Martha Jones; two brothers, P. G. Jones and Denzil Jones; three sisters, Helen Fulkerson, Geneva Cox, and Freda Barnes.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Liz Jones of Kingsport; two sons, Freddie Jones and wife Barbara of Kingsport and Tim Jones and wife Robin of Blountville; three granddaughters, April Rhoton and husband Tyler, Katie Jones, and Emily Jones; one brother, Mike Jones of Kingsport; three sisters, Retha Pugh of Jonesborough, Glenda Summey and Sharon Long, both of Kingsport; special nephew Danny Jones and wife Katie; several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Services will follow at 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Clarence Bear and Pastor Ron Bradshaw officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at East Lawn Memorial Park with military rites by the American Legion Posts #3/265.

Pallbearers will be Harry Wood, Tyler Rhoton, Danny Jones, Brent Riggs, Clint Cox, and Warren McMurray.

Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond Heck and Joe Huggins.
