Billy Joe Phillips

Billy Joe Phillips, 65, Jonesborough, TN, passed away at his home on Monday, June 18th, following an extended illness. Billy was born in Logan WV and had lived in Haines City, FL, where he was a caretaker for Haines City Packing Co. He served in the U.S. Army being a veteran of Vietnam. Billy was a Christian and former member of VFW.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.

Billy is survived by two daughters, Nellie Phillips of Jonesborough and Linda Slone of Jonesborough; two stepsons, Allen Bates of Florida and Joseph Hartsfield of Kentucky; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Murray of Fall Branch, TN; two half-brothers, Danny Phillips and Leroy Phillips, both of South Carolina; former spouse, Martha Bates; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 21st from 9-10:00 am at Hamlett-Dobson, Fall Branch. A ceremony will be conducted at 9:45 am by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 979.

Graveside services will be conducted on Thursday, June 21st at 11:00 am at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Posts 3/265. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
