Billy Paul Price, 53, passed away at home on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at 8:40 p.m. surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was born September 13, 1955. He was a member of the first graduating class of Davy Crockett High School. He enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Panama from 1975-1979. He graduated from Tennessee Tech University with a degree in Telecommunications. He was employed at American Electric Power for 28 years. He loved to travel and spend time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend.
He was preceded in death by his father, James William Price; his mother, Norma Jean Mitchell; grandparents, Guy and Jessie Price and Orgie Roy and Martha Alice Whitaker; four aunts, Cathlean, Dessie and Viola Whitaker, and Ethel Cutshall; and four uncles, Orland, Guy, Kenneth, and Odus Whitaker.
Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Diane Price; one daughter, Angela Michelle Head and husband Kenneth E. Head of Bloomingdale; two sons, Adam Paul Price and Logan Scott Price, both of the home; two granddaughters, Caitlin Leighann Head and Alexis Danielle Head of Bloomingdale; four brothers, James M. Price, Sammy Price, Stevie Mitchell, and David Mitchell; two sisters, Patty Tittle and Rhonda Hensley; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; five nieces, Jennifer Lee, Nicole Tittle, Kelly White, Aimee Price, and Samantha Price; one nephew, Kevin Hipps; three great-nieces, Sierra, Angel, and Marah Lee; two great-nephews, Dylan Lee and Nickolai White; and many special friends including Rebecca Nelms, Dave Brown, Ted Garrett, Robert Atkins, Bob Caldwell, and Steve Hopkins.
The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice of Kingsport, especially Rebecca Lee and Yvonne Jarrett, for their support and kindness. Special thanks to Patty Tittle for her help and support.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. In lieu of flowers, Billy has requested that contributions be made to his wife and children.
