Blanche Tankersley Absher, 94 of Kingsport went to be with the Lord Friday, April 18, 2025 at Holston Rehabilitation and Care Center. Born on May 5, 1930 in Lee County, VA, the daughter of the late Marshall and Frances Johnson Tankersley, and she was one of four siblings. Blanche resided in Kingsport for most of her life. She was a dedicated homemaker and enjoyed caring for others. Blanche could be found playing her guitar and banjo, going shopping and out to eat or sitting on her front porch and people watching. She led a simple and easy-going life and greatly enjoyed time with her close family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Absher; brothers, Dewey and George Tankersley; sister, Rosie Roberts; and nephew, Ralph Roberts.
Survivors include her nephew, Mcarthur and Susan Roberts, niece, Shirley Saltz; nephew, Landon Roberts; nephew, Matthew Absher; special cousins, Lisa and Harmie Johnson; several other cousins; daughters, Brenda Baker and Lisa Osborne; grandchildren, Simon Baker, Sarah Christian and Destiny Johnson; and her cat, Baby Girl.
The family will receive friends, Tuesday, April 22, 2025 from 11:00am-12:00pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Graveside services will be conducted following the visitation, at Old Kingsport Presbyterian Cemetery with Pastor Donnie Humphrey officiating.
