Bob Dykes, 84, Rogersville, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 16, 2007, at his home following a brief illness.
He retired from Tennessee Eastman Company and was an avid farmer. Mr. Dykes was a lifelong resident of the Beech Creek Community and was loved by everyone who knew him.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Bits and Flossie Dykes; one daughter, Brenda Dykes Clark; a son-in-law, Jerry Clark; a daughter-in-law, Marlene Dykes; and several brothers and sisters.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Willie ?Bill? Dykes, Rogersville; two sons, Willis Dykes and wife, Wilma, Rogersville, Robert Dykes, Rogersville; five grandchildren, Sandy Mendenhall and husband Ricky, Debby Conkin and husband Randy, Vicky Burton and husband Phillip ?Burger?, Trina Conkin and husband Chris, and Pam Mendenhall, all of Rogersville; seven great-grandchildren, Tracy Benton, Kevin Mendenhall and fiancée Brooke Self, Austin Conkin, Wayne Parrott, Travis Conkin, Amanda Conkin, and Phillip Burton, all of Rogersville; several nieces and nephews; and special caregivers, Margaret Matthews and Sandy Mendenhall.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Fall Branch. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Orville Dolen officiating.
