Bob Spangler

 

Bob Spangler, 96, of Kingsport, TN passed away on Friday, January 12, 2024, at American House Assisted Living.  Born in S.W. Virginia, he was the son of James C. Spangler and Lydia Dingus Spangler and was raised in Ft. Blackmore VA.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps as an M.P.  Bob retired from Eastman Chemical after 40 years of service.  He enjoyed woodworking and gardening and was an avid outdoorsman.  Bob was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church.

 

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Catherine; sons, Garry Edwards, Glenn Spangler; and daughter, Judy Gaylor. 

 

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Betty Bell and husband, Larry and Shirley Moore; 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

 

A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2024, from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. in the chapel at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 2630 Hwy. 75, Blountville, TN.  A service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with a Eulogy presented by his grandsons Marty and Tennessee.  Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Faith with military rites rights presented by American Legion Post #3/265.

 

The family extends special thanks to Brookdale Assisted Living, American House Assisted Living and Amedysis Hospice for their care of him through these last few years.
