Bob Sublett

Bob Sublett, 81, of Kingsport, died Wednesday morning, February 6, 2013, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after an apparent stroke. Born in Paintsville, Kentucky he had resided in Kingsport since 1960. Bob was a graduate of Paintsville High School, Eastern Kentucky University and received a Masters Degree from the University of Tennessee. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict. Bob retired from Eastman Chemical Company in 1996 after 36 years of service in research. He holds over 35 patents. Bob attended Waverly Road Presbyterian Church, was a member of Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society, and was a life Member of the American Chemical Society. He was active with Meals on Wheels as a cook. Bob was an ambassador with the Kingsport Convention and Visitors Bureau and a member of the Cherokee Rod and Gun Club.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Sublett of the home; four children, John Sublett and Julie Bracey of Rockwood, Melissa Sizemore and husband, Rick of Kingsport, Chris Sublett and wife, Glenda of Knoxville, and Andy Sublett and wife, Melinda of Kingsport; seven grandchildren, Christopher Sizemore and wife, Tracey, Sarah Land and husband, Seth, Allie Ladd and husband, Ryan, Molly Sublett, Mathew Sublett, Josh Sublett and Zachary Sublett; one great-grandson, Calvin Sizemore; siblings, Billie Trimble and husband, Harold of Fairborn, OH, Larry Sublett and wife, Barbara of Kennesaw, GA, Frances Stewart and husband, Frank of Ashland, KY, and Rex Sublett of Lexington, KY; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday at Waverly Road Presbyterian Church with The Rev. Daniel S. Clark officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
