Bobbie Doris Smith Simpson

Bobbie Doris Smith Simpson, 71, of Kingsport, died surrounded by her family and friends, at her home Monday, April 4, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was a member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church, and a long time member of Glenwood Baptist Church. Doris graduated from Sullivan High School. She worked many years at Mason-Dixon Truck Lines in Human Resources and finished her career in the management office at the Ft. Henry Mall. Doris was a nice lady who will be remembered for her smile and her beauty, inside and out, and was loved by everyone who knew her.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Ruth Smith; and father of her children William C. Stidham.

Survivors include her daughter Julie Stover and husband, Forrest of Knoxville; son Steve Stidham and wife, Jana of Kingsport; six grandchildren, Maggie Marks, Kaylee Marks, Collin Stover, Jake Stidham, Jesse Stidham, and Jordan Stidham; two brothers, Emmett Douglas Smith of Kingsport, Lawrence Smith and wife, Hildegarde of Boones Creek, and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted at 4 pm Thursday, April 7, 2011 at First Broad Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Jack Weikel officiating. Visitation will follow in the church.
