Rev. Bobby Glen Dingus, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Saturday March 6, 2010 at his home.
Born in Scott County, VA, he had resided most of his life in the Tri-City area. He was a graduate of Tennessee Temple University with a degree in Theology. Bobby was saved in 1968 at Bible Way Baptist Church and announced his call to preach the gospel in 1969. Rev. Dingus was pastor of Pilgrim's Baptist Church in Piney Flats.
He retired from the Kingsport Press having worked as a supervisor. Bobby loved nature and especially animals, but his greatest love was winning the lost to the Lord.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pat and Grace Dingus; and brother, Garland Dingus.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Inez Dingus; daughter, Nancy Dingus; sons, Mark Dingus and wife, Missy, Roger Dingus and wife, Melissa, and Joel Dingus and wife, Kellie; four grandchildren, Tyler, Marleigh, Patrick, and Meribeth; brothers, Michael Dingus of Surgoinsville; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Services will be at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. J.W. Depew, Brother Eddie Smith, and Rev. Bob Steele officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Holston View Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mark Dingus, Roger Dingus, Joel Dingus, Michael Dingus, Harold Smith, Kevin Ramey, and Ron Austin. Honorary pallbearers will be Glen Lawson, Robert Goodman, Johnny Smith, and Bill Hensley.
