Bobby Godsey

Bobby Godsey, 72, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at Holston Manor following a period of declining health. Born in Kingsport, TN on May 6, 1947, a son of the late Steve and Lokiel Godsey, he had resided in this area his entire life.  He was a self-employed drywall installer and finisher.  Bobby will be remembered as a loving and devoted daddy, papaw, brother, uncle and friend who loved to golf and was an avid Tennessee Vols fan.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mable Murray, Betty Robinson and Sylvia Miles; and brother, C.J. Godsey.

Survivors include his daughter, Samantha Curtis and boyfriend, Jamey Gillenwater of Kingsport; sons, Bobby Gene Godsey Jr. of Kingsport, and Chad Austin Godsey and wife, Kim of Kingsport; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert Lee Godsey of Kingsport, and Hughie Godsey of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 pm on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport and at other hours at the residence of his brother, Robert.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Sunday in the chapel with Pastor Randy Perciful officiating.  Special music will be provided by Travis Shelton.

Burial will follow in Mullins Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
