Bobby Lee Hopkins, 79, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Kingsport, TN on Tuesday, February 15, 2011.
Born in Johnson City, TN, to Daytha and William Hopkins, he served in the US Navy. He was a pressman at Kingsport Press for several years and later retired from Mason Dixon. Bob was an avid golfer, enjoyed walking, fishing, yard work and visiting flea markets. He was a member of Holy Mountain Baptist Church, where he was active in the Senior Adults. Bob was involved with the Soldiers of Grace at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Patsy Davenport, Shirley Mitchell; brother, Billy Hopkins; beloved mother-in-law, Beulah Lemmons and brother-in-law, Gerald D. Lemmons.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Betty Lemmons Hopkins of the home; son Tim Hopkins of Kingsport; sister, Edna Jones and husband, Ed of Kingsport; special nephew Brandon Lemmons and special great-nieces Haley and Emily Lemmons along with several other nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12-2 pm on Friday, February 18, 2011 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The service will begin at 2 pm with Pastor Jerry Musick officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Posts #3/265.
Pallbearers are Brandon Lemmons, Phil Lemmons, Paul Williams, Mitch Davenport, Todd Hopkins and Scott Hopkins.
