Bobby L. Wines

II Timothy 4:7: I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.

Bobby L. Wines, 79, was born August 31, 1945, in Washington County, Tennessee to Huble H. Wines and Mattie V. Isham and was the youngest of his siblings. God took him home February 24, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

He was a 100% service-connected Vietnam Army veteran with some of his many health problems associated with Agent Orange and chemicals in the treated wood used in the soldier’s quarters.

Bobby wore many hats in his career, including policeman, truck driver, and the last 14 years of it as a licensed Tennessee building contractor who built houses in some of the affluent sections of Kingsport, Johnson City, and Blountville. He was a man with a good heart who was loved by almost everyone who met him, including the wonderful staff at The Waters of Bristol, where he spent the last months of his life. Bobby was one of the longest-standing members of Feathers Chapel Baptist Church in Blountville and was also Superintendent and Trustee there for the last 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Buddy and Johnny Miller, and H.H. Wines, Jr.; sisters, Frances Sands, Katheryn Wines, Helen Pitt, and Myrtle Moore.

Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Janice D. Wines; sons, Jerry and Bret Wines; grandsons, Dylan and Jeremiah; granddaughter, Kaydance; sister, Margaret Ferguson; many nieces and nephews; and other family and friends.

The family extends its thanks, gratitude, and love to the amazing staff at The Waters of Bristol for the loving care given to Bobby at the home they made for him and his family during his stay.

The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Elder David Parsons, pastor at Burke’s Union Primitive Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will follow at Washington County Memory Gardens in the Boone’s Creek Community with Military rites conducted by The American Legion Posts 3/265.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Wines, Bret Wines, Dylan Adkins, Brian Stout, Lorie Calhoun, Candice Proctor, and honorary pallbearer, Aaron Dorton.
