Bonnie Lee Dykes

Bonnie Lee Dykes, 85, of Kingsport was called home to be with Jesus Wednesday, January 16, 2008, at her residence with her three children by her side.

She was born and raised in Kingsport and had dedicated her early Christian life to witnessing to the lost. She was a hardworking wife and mother, and will be missed by those that love her.

Preceding her in death were her husband of 38 years, Rev. Herman Dykes; her parents, Emory and Bessie Durham; two sisters, Bertha Kraus and Ola Dykes; and one special brother, Kyle Durham.

Surviving are two daughters, Betty Lane, Church Hill, Peggy and Lyle Woods of Kingsport; one son, Ronald Dykes of the home; three grandchildren, Teresa Blakely and husband, Terry of Kingsport, Jeff Poore and wife, Susan of Georgia, Tonya White and husband, John of Kingsport; five great-grandchildren, Chastity and Chad Blakely, Tiffany Walker, Joshua and Abby Poore; a special great-great-grandson, Hunter Walker; and two sisters, Ethel Leonard of Bristol, Arvillia Boothe of Kentucky.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Lewis Meade and Brother Dan Dolen officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday at East Lawn Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Terry Blakely, Chad Blakely, John White, Roy Leonard, Troy Leonard, and David Rubendall. Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandchildren -- Joshua Poore and Abby Poore, and special great-great-grandson - Hunter Walker.

The family wishes to say a special thanks to Dr. Ananthula, Melissa, Dr. Neglia, the Fifth Floor Staff at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center, Wellmont Hospice Care Misty, Melissa, Rebecca, Becky, and Shirley.
