Richard Bradley "Brad" Spaugh, 41, of Arlington, TX and formerly of Kingsport, went to his heavenly home Friday, May 12, 2011 after a lengthy illness.
Brad graduated from Sullivan South High School. He served in the US Army, retiring in 2004 due to medical reasons. He was involved in many combat operations, including Desert Storm, Bosnian War and Iraqi Freedom. In his last tour of duty he belonged to 101 Airborne Division as a staff sergeant. Brad received many honors including four Army Commendations.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Arthur and Frances Spaugh, Clarence and Martha Medlin; and two uncles, James and Martin Medlin.
Survivors include his wife, Kim Spaugh of Arlington, TX; parents, Art and Susan Spaugh of Kingsport; brother Kevin Spaugh and wife, Brandy of Kingsport; sister Jennifer Reneau and husband, Chris of NC; nephew Matthew Spaugh; and two nieces, Katie and Bree Spaugh.
A military service with full honors for Brad was held on May 17th in Arlington, TX. The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Sullivan Baptist Church. The service will begin at 4 pm with Rev. Jeff Strong officiating.
