Brenda K. Dykes, 63, Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, April 28, 2013, at her residence following a brief illness.

Born in Kingsport on January 24, 1950, daughter of the late Claude Ketron and Oma Miller, she had resided here most of her life. She was of the Baptist faith and a dedicated homemaker. Brenda will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, momma, mamaw, sister and friend, and for her love of fun and travel.

Brenda was preceded in death by her mother, Oma Marie Miller; her father, Claude Ketron; her stepfather, Perry Miller; and her grandmother, Bertha Ramey.

She is survived by her husband of 28 years, John "Joe" Dykes; children, Gary "Dowell" Jordan and wife, Dawn of Kingsport, Becky Coomer and boyfriend, Cecil Gent of Kingsport, and John "Totsie" Dykes and girlfriend, Jessica Davidson of Kingsport; grandchildren, Kayla Weber, Dana Bright, Aaron Weber, Alexia Dyck, Adam Jordan, and Makala Arnold; sister, Judy Lambert and husband, John Michael of Kingsport; brother, John Ketron and wife, Gayle of Phoenix, Arizona; step-brother, Jack Miller and wife, Connie of Blountville, TN; and nieces and nephews, Rachel Lawson, Michael Ford, and Stephanie Ketron.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mountain States Hospice and an extra special thank you to Tommy Stevens, Sandra Frost, Patty Lawson and James "Rocky" Lawson.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, 2013, at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport.

Graveside Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 6, 2013, at Winegar Cemetery, Surgoinsville, TN, with Rev. John Spannagel officiating. Those attending graveside services are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 12:00 noon to go in procession.

Pallbearers will be Rocky Lawson, George Lawson, Cecil Gent, Michael Ford, Bobby Miller and Jed Bright. Honorary pallbearers will be John "Totsie" Dykes and Michael John Lambert.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in care of John "Totsie" Dykes, 2548 Ft. Henry Dr., Kingsport, TN 37664.
