Brenda Jennings Parker, age 82, of Kingsport, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on January 17, 2025. Brenda was born and raised in Kingsport and graduated from Lynn View High School.
She met the love of her life, Curtis Lowell, while at Lynn View and they were married for 45 years before he passed in January of 2006. She started a career and worked in many fields. She spent time managing the Remnant shop on Center Street, ran the Bingo hall, and cleaned many houses. Later on in life she worked as a caretaker and assisted numerous patients. She also was a caring and loving mother to her only son, Michael Wayne, who was born in 1961.
Brenda was a very strong and independent woman. She loved kids, was an incredible cook, and made sure everyone was well fed. Her motherly instinct was strong. Her grandsons wanted to leave her with one last question, “Mamaw, where’s snowball”?
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Marvin Jennings; husband, Curtis Lowell; son, Michael Parker; brother, Freddie Jennings; sisters, Carol Nelson and Janie Stallard; nephews, Wayne Jennings, and Todd Halverson; great-nephew, Jacob Halverson.
Brenda is survived by her grandsons, Mike Parker (Sherri) and Matthew Parker (Robin); great-grandchildren, Emily, Erin, Evan, Gavin, Isaiah, and Elijah; great-great-grandchildren, Harper and Jaxson Byrns; nephews, Alan and Aaron Parker and Jessie Jennings; and several great-nephews, great-nieces and cousins.
The family would like to give a special thanks to her cousin Pam Shipley and friends, Shirley Neeley and Elizabeth Fouch.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Chaplain Matthew Taylor officiating.
