Brenda Bren Phillips, 63, of Kingsport went home to be with Jesus with her children by her side, Monday, June 13, 2011. Her strength and courage inspired everyone around her and her presence will be greatly missed.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Edith Lovelace. She was a graduate of Elizabethton High School and she was a long time employee of CVS Pharmacy. She attended Grace Church in Kingsport. She loved the simple things in life, Andy Griffith and a good cup of coffee anytime of the year.
She is survived by her children; Larry A. Coates and wife, Donna, Kim Coates Chase and husband, Roger, Kathy Coates Galloway and husband, Joel, Gregory Alan Coates and wife, Alisha, and Tera Phillips; grandchildren, Steffen Chase, Shandi Coates, Kevin Coates, Hannah Coates, Connor Chase, Gannon Chase, Cayden Coates and Addisyn Coates; great-grandchildren, Landon Dingus and Kaylan Coates; two brothers, Johnny Lovelace and wife, Sandy, Phillip Lovelace and wife, Marsha; three sisters, Sue Massengall, Nancy Lovelace and Donna Lovelace; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dr. Edwin McElroy and his assistant, Joyce and all the nurses and caregivers for the incredible support and kindness expressed to their mother.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. A funeral service will follow at 8pm in the chapel with Pastor Michael Robison officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 2 pm on Thursday at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Coates, Steffen Chase, Phillip Lovelace, Joel Galloway, Roger Chase, and Larry R. Coates. Honorary pallbearers are Connor and Gannon Chase.
