Brian Kent Egan, 60, of Kingsport, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 2, 2021, at The Wexford House having lived with diabetes through most of his life and a recent stroke.
A native of Kingsport, he was the son of the late Kent and Bessie Blake Egan. He is survived by his brother, Duane C. Egan of Kingsport; an aunt, Ina Egan Parr, Asheville, NC and uncle, Jay Blake and wife Betty, Chuckey, TN, several cousins and his dog, Coco. Brian would want it known that his best friend from childhood and life was Scotty Bishop. Another special friend and caretaker was Donna Fishley. His cousin, Carolyn Lindsey and daughter, Monica Lindsey, were special to him as well.
Brian attended Palmer Center and graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School in 1983. He was a member of Mafair United Methodist Church. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted brother and friend who loved cars and stuffed tigers. His hobby was collecting Matchbox and Hot Wheels toy cars.
Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport is in charge of arrangements. On Friday, May 7, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. a graveside service will be conducted by Pastor Adam Love at Oak Hill Memorial Park for family and friends. Prior to the graveside service, family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 p.m. for visitation and viewing only at the funeral home, 117 E. Charlemont Avenue.
The family wished to express deep appreciation to Wexford House staff for their assistance and care of Brian.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P. O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.
