Brian Keith Overbay, 41, Sullivan Gardens, went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following a period of declining health. Born in Kingsport on September 14, 1972, a son of Debbie Meade and the late Hurld Overbay, he had resided in this area this entire life. Brian was a 1990 graduate of Sullivan South High School. Over the years he worked for Duncan's Grocery, Prime Sirloin, McDonald's, Burger King, Kingsport Provision, and Diversco @ AFG.

Brian loved playing his guitar, video games and wrestling, having previously wrestled for Southern States Wrestling. Over the years he took care of several elderly people and also loved his dog, Kira.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, John and Nellie Overbay; maternal grandfather, Marvin Meade; and maternal grandmother, Mary Meade; and maternal great-grandmother, Etta Scott Meade.

Brian is survived by his mother, Debbie Overbay Light and stepfather, Gary Light of Kingsport, TN; his girlfriend, Raquel Watterson of Church Hill; maternal grandmother, Peggy Jean Arnold of Kingsport; aunt, Rossanna Leonard; uncles, James Overbey, Paul Overbay and wife Anita and Greg Meade; step-brother and sister, Nathan Light and wife, Charlotte and children, and Crystal Goodwin and children; and a host of special cousins and extended family members; special "sisters" Deanna, September, Cayla, and Megan.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Fall Branch, and at other hours food and friends will be received at the residence of Don and Phyllis Hubbard, 1124 Old Blairs Gap Rd., Kingsport, TN. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Evangelist Shelton Meade and Pastor Lewis Meade officiating. The eulogy will be by Anthony Dickens.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Carmel Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery, Rogersville, TN. Those attending committal services are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 1 p.m. Thursday and then proceed to the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Greg Meade, David Bell, Anthony Dickens, David Parker, Nathan Light, Roger Fink, Keith Fink, and Paul Overbay. Gary Leonard and JJ Holder will serve as an honorary pallbearers.

Those wishing may make memorial contributions to the organization of the donor's choice.
