Bruce Graham Richardson, 68, Harmony Community, Jonesborough, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2007, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in the Cherokee Community of Washington County, Tennessee to the late Earl K. and Edna Taylor Richardson.
He was a graduate of Lamar High School and also attended several technical schools. Bruce was a former employee of North Electric in Gray, TN, and retired from Phillips/Five Rivers in Greeneville, TN. After retirement he worked for the U.S. Forestry service. He was a former volunteer for Gray Rescue Squad for many years and was a volunteer at Bays Mountain Homestead Museum. His hobbies included hiking and woodworking and was an active member of the Johnson City Hiking Club and Greeneville Hiking Club. Bruce was a member of Harmony Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother and several aunts and uncles.
Surviving are his wife, Jewel Davidson Richardson of the home; a daughter, Lisa Gray and husband, George Jr. of Jonesborough; a special granddaughter, Lindsey Gray Harris and husband, Justin, Kingsport; a special grandson, Landon Gray of Jonesborough; a step-granddaughter, Tonya Gray, Kingsport; a step-great-grandson, Connor Gray, Kingsport; two brothers, Luther Richardson and wife, Patricia of Newport News, VA, Glen Richardson and wife, Drema of Mountain City, TN; one sister, Kona Auman, Greeneville, TN; aunts, Marie Harvey, Marian Shew, and Alice Taylor; a special niece, Gail Hulse; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. Friday in the original sanctuary of Harmony Baptist Church, Jonesborough. Funeral services will follow at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the church with Pastor Steve Pate officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Leon Cox, Chuck Reece, Bill P. Bacon, Bill Harris, Bill Robbins, David Baskett, Don Short, and Dennis Robbins.
