Burletta F. Conkin, 54, of Kingsport died on Thursday, July 30, 2009 after a courageous 6 year, 4 month-battle with cancer.
She was born and raised in Paintsville, KY then later resided in Kingsport, TN. Ms. Conkin was Human Resource Manager of Equitable Resources. She was an active member and officer in the Desk and Derrick Club, which is affiliated with several different oil and natural gas exploration companies.
She was a loving mother to her son, Christopher Grant Conkin.
Ms. Conkin is survived by her former husband, Gary Conkin; son, Christopher Grant Conkin, both of Kingsport; parents, Burl and Alice Fitch of Paintsville, KY; two brothers, Bobby and Jamie Fitch both of Paintsville, KY.
Viewing will be Monday from 10 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Thomas Benton and Rev. Greg Street officiating.
Burial will be private at family's request.
