Burton Jay Sampson, 83, Fall Branch, left this life on Tuesday, April 17, 2007, and was reunited with his wife, Jean of 60 years, and his Lord and Savior.
A native of Fall Branch, he was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. Jay was a charter member of Cornerstone Fellowship Church of Fall Branch. He retired from Cadillac Motor Car Division after 15 years of service. Following his return from Michigan, he established Jay & Jeans Market in Fall Branch serving the Fall Branch community for several years.
He loved his church and his church family, but most of all he loved the Lord.
Preceding Jay in passing was his wife, Ella Jean Bradley Sampson and his parents, Isaac Sylvester and Lillie Morton Sampson.
Surviving are his son, Tony Sampson and wife, Darlene, Fall Branch; a grandson, Stacey Sampson and wife, Kristie, Mt. Vernon, Indiana; granddaughter, Rhonda Sampson, Kingsport; granddaughter, Tracey Sampson, Morganton, GA; granddaughter, Jennifer Thacker and husband, Chris, Morristown, TN; the grandchildren?s mother, Kathy Porter, Morganton, GA; seven special great-grandchildren; a twin sister, Mae Burke, Fall Branch; a sister, Tina Stacy and brother-in-law, O. M. Stacy, Fall Branch; two special friends he considered as family, Lisa Belcher and Karen Eaton.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Fellowship Church in Fall Branch. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. at the church with Rev. Harold Morelock and Rev. Ronnie Baxter officiating.
The body will be taken to the church at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Logans Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery with graveside rites by Johnson Masonic Lodge #274.
