Calvin C. Caldwell, 83, of Kingsport, went to sleep in the Lord on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at his residence following a period of declining health. Born in Hawkins County, TN on May 17, 1933, a son of the late William and Margaret Caldwell, he had resided in this area his entire life. Calvin graduated from Stead College in 1977 with an AA degree. He retired from Mead in 1998 following 40+ years of service and was a Veteran of the Korean War having served in the U.S. Navy. Calvin attended Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, dad, granddad, brother and friend. Calvin loved to garden and was an avid fisherman, who enjoyed hunting and sitting around talking to his buddies.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Amedysis Hospice.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Ralph Caldwell and nephew, Timmy Woods.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Jackie Caldwell; son, Keith Caldwell and wife, Pamela of Church Hill; daughter, Sharon Carberry and husband Bob of Greeneville, TN; grandchildren, Brian Bledsoe, David Bledsoe, Justin Caldwell and Ashleigh Caldwell; great-grandchildren, Anthony, Zachery, Kaidence, Jon and Hagan Bledsoe; brothers, Jake Caldwell and wife, Ruth, and Billy Caldwell and wife, Brenda; sisters, Joan Woods and husband, Elijah, and Pat Clark; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Ray "Razer"Knapp, Don "Hippie" Davis, Wilbur Ketron and Junior Bishop.

The funeral service will be held on Monday at 1:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport with Rev. Leighton Roberts and Chaplain Tom Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Brian Bledsoe, Don Davis, Wilbur Ketron, Donnie Knapp, Ray Knapp and Justin Caldwell. Honorary pallbearers are Alfred Bishop and Jon Bledsoe.
