I, Lois "Delores" (Roark) Still don't know why my name didn't print out
on the message I just typed in Mr. Derting's guestbook so I am hoping
this signing will directly show up below it, oh, I guess it will follow above
it. Oh well, I don't know what I did wrong.

Mr. Calvin Derting was the very best teacher that I ever had. He was a
polished diamond teacher to me. Too bad I didn't have him as my first
grade teacher. It wasn't until I got into his 7th grade glass that I started
liking school. I will have to give him and Mrs. Mary McClain all the credit
for that. I didn't have Mrs. Mary McClain for any classes. She was
an 8th grade teacher but she & Mr. Derting took an interest in me
and I felt that interest from the very beginning. Their interest in
me gave me encouragement and belief in my myself. Gee, what
a difference those two wonderful people made in my life of looking
forward to going to school where as before I didn't.

Mr. Derting was always kind (as well as Mrs. McClain). He would
encourage me to try a little harder and to do better and was never
mean or hateful to me or put me down...he built me up. I have never
forgotten about him or Mrs. McClain and I never will. I remain close
to them even after I moved on from Virginia Junior High to Virginia High
School. I praise them both most highly and loved them most dearly. I
will remember ALWAYS what a difference those two WONDERFUL people
made in my liking of going to school because I really dread going to
school until God put them in my path of life.

I could say a lot more but I will close now and say, "Thank you
dear Lord for putting those two loving people in my school year

She was an 8th grade teacher but she and Mr. Derting took an interest
in me and they both was SUPER kind to me and gave me encouragement
to believe in myself.

It wasn't until I got into Mr. Derting's 7th grade class that I started
liking school and looking forward to going to school.
