Calvin Carl Epps, 79, of Alta Loma, California. Born in Kingsport, Tennessee on March 13th, 1934 to William E. Epps and Mary Ann Epps, he shared his childhood with his wonderful brothers and sisters, William "Bill" Epps, Irene Epps Gibson, George Epps, Dolly Ann Epps Cruz, Curtis Epps, Richard Epps, and Mike Epps.
He married the "Love of his Life" Bonnie (Bolden) Epps and from there they began their 60 years of a lifetime of memories. Calvin and Bonnie moved to California taking advantage of new opportunities and completing their family of 4 children, Connie Epps Salyer, Ace Epps, Robert Epps and Rodney Epps.
With hard work and determination Calvin provided a wonderful Life for his children and grandbabies, Shannon Salyer, Kasi and Danny Clifton, Angela Epps, Aaron and Krystle Epps, Joshua and Christina Epps, Jeremy Calvin Salyer, Isaac Epps, Helaina Epps and Illeana Epps; great grandbabies, Sydney Clifton, Caleb Clifton, Emma Jane Clifton, Amrie Epps, Gracie Epps, Jade Epps, Kinslie Epps and Vance Epps; son-in-law, Jerry Salyer; two daughters-in-law, Annette Epps and Marisa Epps, all of whom were as special to him as his own children! Being a large family, there are many nieces and nephews who he also loved very much!
Even though most of his adult life was lived in California, everyone that knew him learned quickly about his love for Tennessee football and NASCAR racing.
His long battle with cancer never deterred his sense of humor, his "footloose" approach to life or his "American Picking" ability of turning what other people would throw away, into treasures!
He taught his family to be truthful, to love unconditionally, respect everything that God gave us, to work hard and to do our best at all times because nothing in life is free!
The best gift he left all of us was the knowledge that when he took his last breath during the night of June 6th, 2013, he was going to heaven and we will all see him again!
The family would like to thank all family members and friends for their continued thoughts and prayers. Particular thanks to the City of Hope and the loving doctors and medical staff that cared for Calvin. We had him this long because of your efforts.
If anyone would like to make a donation in the memory of Calvin Epps, please contact the City of Hope at 866-683-HOPE.
