Camilla Bowyer Hoard of Kingsport passed away unexpectedly Saturday March 27th, 2010 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to so many, Camilla's gentle example of kindness and unconditional love will not be forgotten. She graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School, received a BA in education from ETSU, and taught elementary school in the Kingsport City School system. She had a special love for children and was active in many volunteer organizations during her life including the Reading is Fundamental RIF program. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Kingsport. Her bright spirit touched many lives and she will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents H. F. "Jack" and Clara Bowyer and her sister Carolyn Compton.
Survivors include husband Wayne Hoard; son and daughter-in-law, Bain and Nadia Butcher; granddaughters, Alina and Livia Butcher; stepchildren, Ruth Ann Hoard, Joel and Carol Ann Hoard; stepgrandchildren, Lavery and Will Hoard, and Tyler Carpenter; brother-in-law E. M. "Jack" Compton; nieces and nephews, Cindy Compton Reynolds, Mike Compton and son Michael, Camilla "Cam" Compton, and Claire and Robert Wood and daughter Kate.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 3rd at the First Broad Street United Methodist Church in Kingsport with ministers Andrew Amodei and Ron Davis officiating. Visitation will follow the service. Graveside services will be conducted at Oak Hill Cemetery at 4 pm.
