Carl E. Snapp

Carl E. Snapp, 87, passed away Monday, July 11, 2016, peacefully at home after an extended illness. A native of Church Hill, Carl lived in Kingsport most of his life. He graduated from Church Hill High School in 1946, where he was very active in extracurricular activities and sports. He attended Carson Newman College his freshman year, transferring to East Tennessee State University where he received a B.S. in Business Administration in 1950. Carl served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion. He was employed by Mead Corporation in 1951 as an accountant, retiring in 1990 as Manager of Accounting.

Carl was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He enjoyed helping others by serving in various local civic organizations. He was instrumental in organizing the Appalachian Community Federal Credit Union where he volunteered for over forty years; including, 17 years as Chairman of the Board. He was a member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church. In his spare time he loved to play golf and work in his yard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Charmie Fraley Snapp.

He is survived by his wife, Irene Pierce Snapp; daughter, Lisa Fuller, Kingsport; son, C. Wesley Snapp, Kingsport; two granddaughters, Alicia Fuller Bell and husband Eric Bell, Washington D.C.; Deonna Fuller Darling and husband Travis Darling, Killeen, Texas; one brother James H. Snapp and wife Joan, Church Hill; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon - 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. A Graveside Service will be conducted following visitation at the Pierce Family Cemetery with Reverend Joe Green and Reverend Jack Weikel officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to First Broad Street United Methodist Church, 100 E. Church Circle, Kingsport, TN 37660, or to the organization of one's choice.
