Carl Franklin King

Carl F. King (86) completed his pilgrim journey October 6, 2013. By faith, at age 23, he became a part of the family of God. It was his desire to be found faithful in service to the Lord. Carl gave his service to Heritage First Church of God, Kingsport, First Church of God, Venice, Florida and Kingsport Community Church, serving in administrative and teaching roles. Carl's hobby was cooking and he enjoyed preparing meals for fellowship dinners, prayer breakfasts and other social events at all three churches he served.

While a student at Sullivan High School, he worked part-time at Wallace News. Other employment included, Kingsport Press, Chapman Drug Company, and American Express. He retired from American Express with several years of service as a financial advisor.

During World War II, he served his country by joining the Navy at age 17. Part of his service time he was assigned Fleet Marine duty. He was a member of Hammond Post #3, American Legion, for 61 years.

It is now time for him to join his parents, Charles H. King and Bessie L. King, sisters, Edith King McGuire and Brenda King Barnes, brother Roy L. King and wife Jean and many friends in eternal peace.

He bids a temporary good bye to his wife Opal Powell King, sons Daniel C. King (Danny) of the home, and David P. King and wife Leigh Anne of Lakeland, Florida, Grandsons Michael King and wife Jessica, Orlando, Florida, Nathaniel King , Lakeland, Florida, brother, Paul E. King, Greeneville, Tennessee, sisters, Geraldine King Franklin (Jerry) and husband Oscar, Cleveland, Tennessee, Wilma King Prichett and husband Roy, Cleveland, Tennessee.

A celebration of life service and a time for remembrance and comforting the family will take place at Heritage First Church of God, 470 Rock Springs Road, Kingsport, on Saturday October 19th 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. G. Dennis McGuire, assisted by Pastor Carroll Light officiating. (Receiving of friends from 9:00 to 11:00am.)
