Carl William "Bill" Miller

Carl William "Bill" Miller, Jr., 65, of Kingsport, passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. He was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church where he had served as a past deacon, past Sunday School teacher and had served on several committees.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Judge Carl W. Miller, Sr., and Helen B. Miller.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Judy F. Miller of Kingsport; son, Lt./Colonel Carl William Miller III and wife, Kristin of Stuggart, Germany; Papa Bill's beloved grandchildren, Carter and Anna; several other family members; special friends, Morgan Suit and wife, Wanda of Charlotte, N.C., Eddie Durham and wife, Linda of Kingsport and Tony Hensley and wife, Lisa of Kingsport.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 from 5-7:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport or anytime at the home. Services will follow with Rev. T. Richard Harris and Steve Taylor officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. Ken Smith and nurses and staff in the ICU unit at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center, and to the nurses and staff at Bristol Select Specialty Hospital.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in memory of Bill and in honor of Eddie Durham to the Dobyns-Bennett High School Football Team, 1800 Legion Drive, Kingsport, TN 37664, 423-378-8400 or the Kingsport Humane Society, 2141 Idle Hour Road, Kingsport, TN 37660.
