Carl Raymond Roberts

Carl Raymond Roberts, 71, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2006, at Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol, TN, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born May 23, 1935, in LaFollette, Tennessee, to the late Roscoe and Lois Roberts.

Mr. Roberts was a member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church and a graduate of the University of Tennessee. He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force stationed in Bremerhaven, Germany. Upon completion of his military duties, he became a licensed private pilot. Flying was his passion. Carl retired from Eastman Chemical Company in 1994 as a Transportation Representative.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Wanda Malicote Roberts; a son and daughter-in-law, Eric Roberts and Tammy of Cleveland, TN; a daughter and son-in-law, Tracy Roberts Thomas and LCDR Robbie Thomas, Silverdale, WA; three precious grandchildren, Samantha Roberts, Peyton Thomas, and Austin Thomas; a brother, Paul Roberts, LaFollette; a sister, Joyce Deavers, Nashville; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 27th, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Dr. Greg Burton presiding.

Pallbearers will be nephews and a son-in-law. Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Diamond, Joe Shipley, Scott Warren, Mike Wayland, and the MOX-NIX group from Bremerhaven, Germany.

The family will receive friends in LaFollette on Thursday, December 28th, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Cross Funeral Home.

Military graveside services will be Bakers Forge Cemetery in LaFollette Thursday, December 28th at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Albert Miller will do the prayer.
