Carl Tonker, 59, of Church Hill, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 23, 2009 after a lengthy illness.
He was born August 13, 1949 in Jonesville, VA. Carl worked as a mechanic for most of his life until retiring from APAC of Tennessee. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed his family and friends and loved his grandchildren.
His wife, Angela Tonker; and parents, Everett and Susie Irene Tonker preceded him in death.
Surviving are his daughter, Emily Davis and husband John of Kingsport; two granddaughters, Chelsea and Cydney Davis; sister, Betty Joyner and husband Jerry of Kingsport; sisters-in-law, Beulah McDavid of Kingsport, Patricia Barrett of Gray, Ruby Short of Kingsport, Faye Coffman of Kingsport, Judy Meeks of Fall Branch, and Ruth Dove of Virginia; brothers-in-law, Roy Coffey and wife Beverly of Fall Branch and E. J. Coffey of Surgoinsville; several nieces and nephews; and very special friend, Willis Sims.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Lennus France officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be family members and friends.
