Carol F. Joseph, 74, of Kingsport, died Tuesday, December 9, 2008, at Indian Path Medical Center.
She graduated from Longview High School in Longview, Texas; but was a very active member of Dobyns-Bennett Alumni Association. She also attended East Tennessee State University.
Mrs. Joseph retired from Kingsport City Schools as a Teaching Assistant after 29 years of service. She was a member of Mountain View United Methodist Church, had sung in Chancel Choir there since 1966, and served on the Executive Board of the United Methodist Women as Youth Coordinator and Youth Counselor, was a member of Staff and Parish Committee where she served as a Trustee, and a member of the Administrative Board. She was also a member of Epworth Sunday School Class and Seul Esprit Circle #3.
Mrs. Joseph served as President of the Kingsport Lifesaving Crewettes, was an Executive Board Member of Kingsport Mental Health Association, served as Secretary and Executive Board of American Cancer Society and Vice-President and President of Dickson School Parent-Teacher Association. She was also Secretary, Vice-President, and President of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority; Tennessee State Chaplain of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority; and Vice-President, President, and Executive Board Member of The Crossings Women's Golf Association.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Edward Joseph; a sister, Jean McDonald; and her parents, J. W. and Glenna French.
Surviving are one daughter, Terrie Statzer and husband David of Jonesborough; one son, Steve Joseph and wife Linda of Oceanside, California; three grandchildren, Shelley Statzer, Tyler Statzer, Stacey Joseph; one sister, Norma Bloodworth of Kingsport; one niece; and two nephews.
The family will receive friends any time at the home and from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Mountain View United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the church with Rev. John Hackney and Rev. Brian Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial park. Pallbearers will be Alan Henderson, Bill Dickson, Phil Robinson, John Dudney, James Call, and Richard Hopson.
