Carole Lea Root, 81, passed into heaven on April 5, leaving behind two loving children, Michael Scott Root of Atlanta and Karen Lea and husband John Young of Nashville, and four grandchildren, Bradley Michael Root, Cincinnati, OH; Miranda Ariel Klein, Coleraine, Northern Ireland; Natalia Danielle Dyer, New York, NY, and Virginia Sue Hunt, Nashville.
She was born in Covington, KY, on January 16, 1937, and was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Margaret Dvorak, of Cincinnati, OH. She was graduated from Mt. Healthy High School and attended Ohio University, where she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and the choir.
Carole was a member of the American Guild of Organists and served as organist and choir director at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church for many years and as organist at St. Paul's Episcopal Church from 1981 to 2007. She also worked as a back office technician for Douglas Burmeister, MD.
Carole leaves behind a legacy of music and love of performing arts that are being carried on by her family, as well as the many music students whose lives she touched. She also had a passion for helping animals and was active in animal rescue and welfare efforts.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, April 21, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 161 E Ravine Rd, Kingsport, TN 37660. Donations may be made to the Bridge No Kill Animal Shelter, 2061 Highway 75, Blountville, TN 37617. Phone: 423-239-5237.
