Carolyn Park Von Bramer, 78, of Kingsport, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 29th. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend. She always had a smile on her face and enjoyed the love of her family, the joy of her Prayer Group, the beauty of flowers and the pleasure of a good book.
She was born in Athens, Georgia on July 2, 1930 to the late James and Alice Park owners of the historic Kingsport Inn, but lived most of her life in Kingsport. She graduated from Dobyns-Bennet High School with honors and received her B.A. from East Tennessee State University. She was a member of the Junior League of Kingsport and the recipient of the Women and Boy Award for her work with the Boys Club of America.
Survivors include her husband and sweetheart of 57 years, Paul Von Bramer, Kingsport; one son, Jim, Kingsport; one daughter, Jan Von Bramer Dinnery and husband, Colin, Baltimore, MD; two sisters, Suzanne Macklen and husband, Bob, Wendell, NC; and Jacqueline Park, New Milford, CT; four sisters-in-law, Lillian Von Bramer Brown, wife of the late Dr. Jim Brown, Kingsport; Ruth Von Bramer, Baltimore, MD; Peggy Von Bramer Davis and husband, Dave, Lincoln City, OR; and Connie Von Bramer McNamara and husband, John, Gray, TN.
The Funeral Mass for Carolyn will be conducted on June 2 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Burton officiating. Ruth Von Bramer will provide special music. There will be a reception at the church following the service where the family will receive friends.
Entombment will follow on June 2 at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Memorial Park mausoleum for family members and close friends.
