Carolyn Mae Ducker

Carolyn Mae Ducker, age 88, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away at her home in Kingsport on Friday, August 9, 2024. Carolyn was born to Elmer McCurry and Anna Taylor McCurry on September 21, 1935, in Kingsport. 

Carolyn had a passion for crochet and often spent her free time creating beautiful crafts. She loved gospel songs and enjoyed singing them with all her heart. As President of the PTA during her children’s schooling, Carolyn made a significant impact on the education and well-being of many young minds. 

Nothing brought Carolyn more joy than being surrounded by her family and loved ones. She found solace in their company and cherished every moment spent together. She will also be remembered for her love of watching the TV show Oak Island.

Professionally, Carolyn worked at the Kingsport Press and the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, where she retired with the rank of Corporal.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward L. Ducker, Sr. and sister, Margie Ferguson.

Survivors include three children, Mark Ducker of Kingsport, Edward Ducker, Jr. of Johnson City and Rhenda Perry of Bluff City; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Joan (Peggy) Dingus of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.

Carolyn’s impact on the lives of others was profound. She possessed great character, and always made an effort to show compassion to everyone she encountered. She was actively involved in the PTA, Athletic Boosters, church and various community organizations, always striving to make a positive difference.

Carolyn’s strong faith in Jesus and his works guided her throughout life. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 12:30 pm. 

The graveside service will be held at Mountain Home National Cemetery at 2:00 pm on Tuesday with family members and friends serving as pallbearers.

She will be dearly missed, but her love and kindness will forever be remembered.
