Carrie H. Smith, 95, Kingsport, TN, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at Indian Path Medical Center.

Carrie was born October 28, 1915, in a log cabin at the corner of Harbor's Chapel Rd. and Skyland Dr., Kingsport. She was married to the late Rev. Leland T. Smith, who was a Methodist pastor for 38 years. She is a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. She attributed her longevity to the will of God for her life.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Charles A. and Amanda Moody Childress; sister Mamie Childress and grandson Steven Smith.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great, great grandmother to. Surviving are her children, Paul Smith and wife, Dorothy; Kyle Smith and wife, Jackie, Harold Smith and wife, Faye, Larry Smith and wife, Connie, Emogene Emma Rector and husband, James Butch; grandchildren: Jerry Smith, Jeff Smith, Vanessa Richards, Brandon Smith, Cynthia Slusher, Tonia Parlier, Crystal Champ, Brian Rector; step great-grandchildren: Hannah Champ, Luke Champ; great-grandchildren: Heather Cassidy, Destiny Cookenour, Ashley Richards, Kathryn Richards, Constance Parlier, Joseph Parlier, Acacia Pruitt, Bryson Rector, Emily Champ, Alexis Champ; and her great-great grandchild, Tierstyn Cassidy.

The family will receive friends from 12-2 pm Saturday, April 2, 2011 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The service will begin at 2 pm with Rev. Homer Roller and Rev. Charles Kilbourne officiating. Graveside services will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
