Cathy Pennington Rossi

Cathy Pennington Rossi, 62, of Kingsport, heard Jesus call her name and she took her heavenly flight home on Sunday, November 26, 2017. Born in Sullivan County on August 28, 1955, a daughter of Barbara Russell Pennington Short, of Kingsport, and the late Ben Pennington, she has resided in this are her entire life. Cathy was a CNA, working at several nursing homes, involved in childcare, and was of the Baptist faith. She was also a volunteer at Bays Mountain Park. Cathy was a huge Elvis Presley and Tweety Bird fan.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Christina Michelle Turbyfill; maternal grandparents, Tyler Russell and Dezzie Russell Gibson; and paternal grandparents, William Sherman Pennington and Cornie Reece Pennington.

Cathy is survived by her husband, Jon Rossi, of the home; son, Michael James Turbyfill of Kingsport; mother, Barbara Short of Kingsport; sister, Charlenia Crawford of Kingsport; step-daughters, Sarrah Rossi and Katie Rossi, both of Kingsport; mother-in-law, Jewell Lovegrove of Gate City; step-sisters, Tammy Skeens and Donna Stone, both of Kingsport; and step-brother, Dominic Rossi, Jr. and wife Mary of San Antonio, TX.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, December 1, 2017 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow with Dr. Ronnie Owens and Phip Sams, Minister officiating. Special music will be provided by Brenda Isaacs and Wayne Bledsoe.

Graveside services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at East Tennessee Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

Those attending services are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 10:00am and then proceed to the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bays Mountain Park Wolf Habitat and Sanctuary, 853 Bays Mountain Park Road, Kingsport, TN 37660.
