Cecil K. Light, Jr., 68, of Kingsport, went peacefully to be with the Lord Monday, August 25, 2008, at his home.
He was raised in Bloomingdale, graduated from Ketron High School in 1960, was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, and retired from Weyerhaeuser in 2002. Cecil loved sports of any kinda"fishing, hunting, coaching little leaguea"and was a key person in helping start Sullivan Recreation Association. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather Pappy, and was a great story teller who could always make you laugh.
His parents, Cecil and Pauline Light, preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Marilyn Lane Light; three sons, Capt. Eric L. Light and wife Wendy of Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, Aaron Blane Light and fiancé Kelly of Kingsport, Jason Todd Light and wife Natalie of Gray, TN; six grandchildren, Logan, Ethan, Nicholas, Emma Grace, Bryce, and Noah; one sister, Pearl Parker and husband Glen of Morristown; one brother, Earl Wayne Light and wife Mary of Church Hill; one aunt, Juanita Collins of Kingsport; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Chaplain Captain Eric Light and Rev. Richard Harris officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Aaron Light, Jason Light, Joseph Smith, Tony Bragg, Mike Pearson, and Phil Wheelock.
